The multipurpose RFK Stadium has hosted NFL, MLB and soccer games in the past -- now rugby is soon to be added to that list.

In June, Wales and South Africa, seen here playing a test match in December last year, will face each other at the 46,000-capacity Washington venue.

The two sides aren't the first tier one nations to stage a match in the USA. The All Blacks faced Ireland in front of a sold-out crowd at Chicago's Soldier Field in November 2016.

Ireland secured an historic 40-29 victory that day, ending New Zealand's 18-game unbeaten run.

Soldier Field was also packed out when New Zealand took on USA in November 2014. The All Blacks eased to a 6-74 victory.

Crowds were significantly thinner when English Premiership sides Saracens and Newcastle Falcons moved a league game to the USA last year. There were 6,271 fans in the 18,500-seat Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania.

That was the second time a Saracens game has been moved state-side. Just over 14,000 saw the North London outfit defeat London Irish at New Jersey's Red Bull Arena.
