"The Beach," a temporary architectural installation at Washington's National Building Museum, is the work of experimental firm Snarkitecture.

The interactive installation features an ocean of nearly 1 million translucent plastic balls.

Visitors are invited to hop into the undulating surf.

The 10,000-square-foot, stark-white installation includes lounge chairs and a concession stand.

"The Beach" will be open through September 7 at the National Building Museum.

The temporary exhibition was constructed in the museum's Great Hall using scaffolding, wooden panels and perforated mesh.
